Five on Friday 4-29-2011 (April 27th Tornado Special)

I normally post a fun and cute post on Fridays and answer 5 random questions about myslef or my life. This week it is going to be a little different. This week I want to list FIVE ways to help those affected by the storms here in Alabama.

1. Pray for them. The Lord can give them comfort that we cannot give. The Lord can provide things for them that they may not even know they need.

2. Donate Items! My dad's business, Valley Automotive at 607 E Michigan Avenue in Muscle Shoals, Al (behind Wendys and across from Harvest Buffet) is a drop off location. They have lost everything and need so much! We will be delivering a load first thing in the morning to the shelter at Oakwood Baptist Church in Phil Campbell tomorrow morning.

3. Donate Blood. So many people need blood transfusions right now. Donate for them! You may save someone's life.

4. When you are able donate time to help with clean up and relief efforts.

5. Pull together with others in our community to brainstorm on things that you may can do or organize that will mean so much to them and cost you so little and be such an overwhelming blessing to all involved.

25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[a]?

Matthew
28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Proverbs 18:10 10
The name of the LORD is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.

Matthew 11:28-30

28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Philippians 4:19
19 And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus

  1. This is a small world! I found the link to your blog on http://www.kellyskornerblog.com/ in the prayer links and was surprised as I saw a picture of your family. I went to high school with your husband, he graduated the year before me and we were in both in the band.
